About

After over 30 years of experience at the Oklahoma State Capitol as a legislator and a government affairs lobbyist I believe I have the knowledge to represent clients with the utmost success. Strong Governmental Affairs Consulting is most effective with four basic principles. Trust, Relationships, Knowledge of the process, and Follow-up to details. Jim Dunlap Consultants, LLC, can deliver these principles on behalf of my clients. Having served 16 years in the Oklahoma Legislature, (eight in the House of Representatives and eight in the State Senate), I know that I can use my existing relationships with Legislators, Agency Directors, and other elected officials from mayors to members of congress to influence legislation and to consult in election and referendum issues.

Serving in Republican Leadership in both chambers of the legislature, and with the State Chamber of Commerce I have the experience of the process, and the relationships from both sides of the aisle to be effective on behalf of my clients. I have continued my belief in trust as a private sector advisor as I had when I served in a publicly elected office, many times the business community has to be at the table for good government to succeed.

Having served as the National Chairman in 2002 of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the largest bi-partisan legislative organization in the country, I have experience and existing relationships with legislators in all 50 states. ALEC participation provides information on issues and access to key legislators around the country. It is an organization I continue to be a member of since my transition from the public sector to the private sector. I believe involvement in ALEC is a great asset for me as well as my clients. While I will primarily be based in and concerned with issues in Oklahoma, I can use my network of contacts all over the country to provide assistance in any state a client may have interests in.
